Compare what each costs to run and keep, not only the invoice. Take the rated annual energy use of each model from its BEE label, multiply by your tariff and the hours the room is actually cooled, then add what an out-of-warranty board or fan motor costs for that brand and how quickly it is available in your district. A model a few thousand rupees dearer often recovers the difference within a few summers in a room used every night, and does not in a guest room used a few weekends a year. We will run both models through that calculation for your room before you decide.

Ask whether the exact model and capacity is in stock now or on order, and if it is on order, the expected dispatch date and what that date depends on. Popular hi-wall split capacities can run short in peak summer, so a model in stock today and a model promised for next week are not the same offer. Ask too whether the installation date is fixed once the unit arrives, and what is included in the price: copper piping length, stand, drain line and electrical work.

Most delays come from allocation: in the hottest weeks, manufacturers supply dealers against demand across the state, and a specific model or capacity can sell through before the next lot.
